The 53-year-old Russian national allegedly parked her vehicle to block access to a villa on Jalan Mas, Ubud, Gianyar, in protest of the noise reportedly caused by gatherings and loud music at the property. Jelantik claims this was her way of expressing frustration over repeated disturbances.

Jelantik explained that Ivanova had previously lodged verbal complaints with the villa management regarding the frequent noisy gatherings. “My client verbally protested to the villa management, but her complaints were disregarded,” said Jelantik after accompanying Ivanova to the Neurobehavior and Sleep Disorder Clinic at RSUP Prof Ngoerah, Denpasar, on Wednesday (October 30, 2024).

The impact of the noise has reportedly taken a toll on Ivanova’s mental health, with Jelantik stating that she suffers from depression and has been advised by a psychiatrist to rest extensively to aid in her recovery.

The legal team also commended the unannounced inspection conducted by Gianyar Regency's Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) on the same afternoon. The inspection followed reports from residents about the villa allegedly operating without proper permits. “According to information, the villa management couldn’t produce the required legal documents, including the Business Identification Number (NIB), Environmental Permit (SPPL), and Spatial Use Statement (KKPR),” Jelantik noted.

For now, Jelantik said the focus is on his client’s mental recovery from the distress caused by staying at the villa. “My client has lived in Bali for 16 years but has only recently experienced anxiety from such disturbances,” Jelantik concluded.
